Most of us and most of the time we just install antivirus software in our system and feel relaxed that the antivirus/anti malware program is working fine and then the time comes when our system crashes due to some virus attack then only we realize that our anti virus was not working properly. So how can we overcome this problem and prevent our system and how can we check that the antivirus or anti malware program is working properly or not. Here is a very simple way for checking the proper functionality of your antivirus.
1.Copy the code written below and then paste this to notepad.
2.As soon as you save the file your antivirus real time protection should be able to detect it.If you have disabled your real time protection you can run a scan on this file.You can also try by emailing this file to you or by zipping it,but if you wannt to check only for desktop scanner then simply save it as described above and see the result...And please don't afraid when you get the result because it is just a test file and not a virus.You can have a look at the screen shots below.As i am using Microsoft security essentials as my antivirus it shows me the result as displayed below.
