4 Programs to Help Your Computer Run Faster

If you are like most people, then you have a bunch of junk piled up in your computer’s memory. Old passwords, internet caches, temporary files, and even half erased programs litter your computer. All these things make your computer run slower and also can cause privacy issues. To combat this, try downloading these four programs:

1.      CCleaner – CCleaner, or Crap Cleaner as it was originally called, is my first choice when it is time to clean my computer. Not only does this free program from Piriform wipe away all your junk, it also empties your recycling box, permanently deleting your files, cleans out your internet browser caches, erases your password recalls if you choose, and can even wipe your free space. But that is not all. CCleaner also comes with a registry checker to get rid of any files that attach to nowhere. You can also use CCleaner to uninstall your programs and then run the registry cleaner to sweep up any leftover bits. All in all, this free program is great and fast to use. You can download the newest version at Piriform’s website here: http://www.piriform.com/CCLEANER
2.
Defraggler – This is another great free program from Piriform. Defraggler helps you to organize your computer’s files. Right now, your computer has files stored haphazardly all over your hard drive. It takes precious seconds for your computer to find and execute those files. Speed up your computer and organize your files in a neat pile using Defraggler. Unlike the defragmenting program that came with your computer system, this one does not take hours to finish. It is much quicker and shows you exactly what files are being moved. Best of all you can download it free here: http://www.piriform.com/defraggler
3.      Malwarebytes – There are a variety of malware scanners out there. Some are free and some can cost a pretty penny. There are many people who will argue about which one works best. All you can do is try a few out and see which ones meet your needs. The best malware scanners will not take up a lot of your computer’s memory or make it run slower, so be aware of what happens once you download your new malware scanning program. The best malware scanner which comes free as well as a pro paid version is Malwarebytes. You can download the free version from here http://www.malwarebytes.org/mbam-download.php

4.      Firewalls – It is so important to always have firewalls in place as you surf the internet. These are the things standing between your computer running and your computer being hacked or infected with a virus. Make sure your computer’s firewall is not only on, but on the proper setting. If you are using a strange internet connection, like Wi-Fi in a shop or airport, then have your firewall set to high and never, ever enter any personal information or passwords.

There are many more things you need to do to truly keep your computer safe, but these four things will get you started off on the right foot. If your computer is running slow or acting strange, try cleaning it out before you take it in for professional help. If things are really bad, run it in safe mode and try to delete as many extraneous files and programs as you can find. Hopefully that will solve your problem and you can then protect your computer from further damage.
